You must be familiar with the NFC technology for quick content sharing. This technology is widely used among Galaxy devices, that is not possible for any Apple user. However, for iOS users this does not seem to be the option but they do have another technology to rely upon. Sharing content including pictures the easy ways is possible with the feature of AirDrop that is offered in the latest iOS 7 version. With this feature included in the latest OS version you need not look for something that requires tapping your devices together for data transfer. Let us find out about this feature and its utility.

That feature is called AirDrop.

The technology of AirDrop may ring bells to Apple users as it has been used in Macs earlier that comes handy for sharing files through drag and drop with users within your network. This feature works in the similar way on iDevices as well. However, you need not be on the same network for transferring content. The AirDrop uses the Wi-Fi connection for transfering of content to another device. This feature is available for iPhone 5 and later, the iPad mini and iPad 4th generation and 5th generation iPod Touch users will be able to enjoy its advantage. The controls of this feature is available in the Control Center for easy reach.

If you want to enable AirDrop feature then you need to go to Control Center. For sharing you are given two options for sending content like, using AirDrop for Contacts Only or Everyone. There is another option that is available in the initial set up of AirDrop that gives you the choice to turn it off completely.

The option of Contacts Only is available for users who are iOS users and are compatible with AirDrop. These people are present in your Contacts app; all you require is the Apple ID that is associated to other devices. This will help the users to find people who are already there in your AirDrop.

The option of Everyone makes your device visible for everyone who are present in your local vicinity to view it. This allows to access and view the sharing sheet and exchange content with just a tap.

Another thing that you need to remember is that your screen should be turned on while exchanging content. If it is off you will not be able to locate other devices in which the feature of AirDrop is available and working.

After selecting the recipients available on your AirDrop, you will receive a command prompt for denying or accepting the file transfer. If you choose to accept then as soon as the transfer is complete the app related to the file will launch automatically. For example, you have shared pictures then the photo gallery app will launch after receiving pictures.

Here is what you need to do if you want to share a picture:

• Select the picture and tap on share button.
• Share Sheet will appear with AirDrop along with the user list who are already using this feature nearby or have compatible devices along with contact photo.
• For sending your picture to a specific contact just select or tap the picture of the user. A progress indicator will appear showing you the transfer rate.
• You can simply choose multiple files including videos to be shared with your friends even after tapping the share button. Swipe through the album if you want to choose more pictures and then tap on the photo.

If you are using Safari even then you can utilize the sharing option in your AirDrop. You will be able to find third party support for sharing in the App Store along with the app that is compatible with AirDrop.
